  15. i, I'm very new to this newsgroup, and I could use some help.

  17. After searching far and wide, and listening to the advice of many cg folks
  18. in various newsgroups, I am coming to the conclusion that my new PC-based
  19. cg setup should be based around Lightwave.  What I am looking for are some
  20. recommendations regarding the various hw components that I will need for a
  21. pantium-based system.  I am a very familiar with Mac setups, but I will
  22. need to go PC this time.  Have very little experience with Windows, etc. 
  23. >From what I have heard, LW is phenomenal, head and shoulders above the
  24. rest.  But I have also heard that the new sw will cost about $700 (is this
  25. correct?) and that a board will be required -- but I don't know what this
  26. board is -- can someone tell me?  It supposedly costs $3000.  Sorry if I
  27. sound confused, but I figure this is the best place to ask.  Please feel
  28. free to suggest any essential hw components that you think make sense, and
  29. please help me figure out what this board is.
